Green chic

(NC)—Students heading back to school and settling into their new home away from home may be looking for ways to create a more eco-conscious dorm life. With a few simple adjustments, you'll create a chic, green space with the following tips from The Home Depot Canada.

Get glowing - Install compact fluorescent light bulbs in your lamps to be more energy efficient. You can recycle them at your nearest The Home Depot store once they have expired.

Clean up - Choose eco-friendly products to keep your pad clean. A variety of new products under the Eco Options line are now available. Whether it's for daily, all-purpose use or for your LCD screen, there are a variety of products available.

Leafy life - Add some nature to your new home with a plant. It will not only add some colour, but also improve air quality. Plant in a pretty pot for an extra shot of style.

Frame it - Add a print and some punch to the walls by framing a piece of funky wallpaper. Not only do you create an attractive focal point in your room but you can reuse it again later.

Draw the shades - Keep the light out for a late morning sleep-in with shades or blinds. They help control temperature by reducing or adding the amount of sunlight entering the room and can also add texture and colour to your cozy cove.
